Health and Safety

The health and safety of performers is a key priority for FIA. Each time they are to perform on set, open-air environments, established or unconventional venues, dance on raked stages, interact with animals during a performance, handle heavy or encumbering props, perform near naked flames and pyrotechnics, smoke and fog, etc. these environments raise unique health and safety concerns that should be properly taken into account to prevent the occurrence of injuries and minimize risks.

FIA has developed guidelines for professional performers working in live shows as well as in audiovisual production, aiming to raise awareness about the most recurring hazards and measures that performers can take to keep themselves safe. FIA is equally engaged with employers in the sector regarding health and safety concerns, promoting better standards, codes of practice and risk assessment tools in the industry at local and global level.
